<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">

<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Hello family!</div>
<br />
This was a very special week. One, for general conference,
and two, because the R family got baptized.<br />
<br />
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
The whole week we were preparing for general conference and
the baptism. There´s a little cultural difference here in El Salvador. For
general conference we always see it in the church. No one sees it in their
house. Last Sunday the branch president had announced that we were going to see
it in the stake center (Apopa), about a 45 minute bus ride away. But we knew
that if we went over there neither the members nor the investigators would go.
And also we knew that possibly Yand E (the R family) would be
baptized on Saturday, and if we were in Apopa that would make it very
difficult.</div>
<br />
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
So we proposed to President R that we should watch general conference here in
Aguilares. The problem was that he was going to be working on Saturday so we
offered to put everything together. So we spend the whole week looking for
someone who could lend us a laptop, extension chords, etc. We also had to let
all the members know that we were going to see it in Aguilares now.</div>
<br />
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
At the beginning of the week, it wasn´t completely sure that
the R family would be able to be baptized because Y and E
didn´t have much family support and because we hadn´t been able to find them
for about a week. But we proceeded with faith. On Thursday we arrived to do
their baptism interview. They passed the interviews, but there was one problem.
Yanira didn´t think that her husband would give them permission to be baptized.
He is almost always working and doesn´t get home until late. They live far away
and buses only run until 6 o-clock. But we decided to wait. It was long after
dark when he arrived. But we were able to talk to him and he give them his
permission. We called an investigator with a car and he gave us a ride.</div>
<br />
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Saturday we had to get up really early. We were in the
chapel from 7 in the morning until 8:00 at night. The baptism font here is not
a normal font. There is some assembly required. And we also had to set up for
general conference.</div>
<br />
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
But everything worked out. They got baptized after the
afternoon session on Saturday. It was a very special day.</div>
<br />
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
General conference was great. The members were amazing. We
had 11 investigators in the conference and the members brought 10 of them. I´ve
never had that many in church before. Members truly are powerful missionaries.</div>

2 Fun story of the week: We were looking at the lists of
members we have. There´s one very interesting list called non baptized members.
I imagine that the people on that list are people that received a name and
blessing as babies but never got baptized when they got old. Here´s the
interesting part: on that list was the branch president´s daughter, who´s
leaving for the mission in a week. That obviously threw us off a bit. We
jokingly thought, "Yes, new investigator! Let´s baptize her tomorrow!"
We were so intrigued by that list that we went to the church and checked MLS:
Now her record appears. She´s no longer on that list. Who knows why she as on
it in the first place. We also thought of her arriving to the mission and
having people ask her "When did you get baptized?" "Last
week." or worse arriving to the mission without being baptized. It would
be cool to baptize your companion though.<o:p></o:p></div>

This week I learned something about revelation. Alma
37:40-42. I feel like those verses very much apply to missionary work. The
Liahona for us is revelation. When we are diligent in seeking revelation for
our area, we see miracles and our area progresses. But if we fall into routines
and are slothful in seeking revelation those miracles cease, the progress halts,
and we spend a lot of time wandering in the wilderness, not traveling a direct
course and being afflicted with hunger and thirst. Joseph Smith said, "Es
en vano que alguien trate de ministrar sin revelacion". I don´t have that
quote in English, sorry. And this principle, revelation, applies to everything.
Family, callings, study, work, etc.<o:p></o:p></div>

we finally listened to Jefferson, got the permision of his mom and grandma (the

Hello family!<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Well, something really cool happened this week. Before there
were two sets of missionaries here in Aguilares. I was the district leader. But
they closed the area last week due to some safety issues they had been having.
So they changed the district. Now I´m the district leaders of Aguilares
and....Nueva Concepcion!!!! District leaders in order to train the other
missionaries do interchanges with the other companionships. So this week I got
to spend a day in Nueva Concepcion. It was amazing. And it won´t be the last
time I go.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I went to go work with one of the missionaries that´s there
right now, and his companion worked here in Aguilares with Elder P. They
basically hadn´t planned the day so that I could show them the area. I
introduced them to a whole bunch of less active members they didn´t know and
former investigators.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
We also had a branch presidency meeting. President M and Hermano T were there. Also Hermano F the Elders quorum president
was there. I never thought that I would have the opportunity to be in a branch
presidency meeting in Nueva Concepcion again. But I did. And oh am I happy. We
talked about the progress of R Ma. R and his family are close to
completing a year of being members. We talked about his preparation for the
Melquizidec Priesthood and their preparation to enter the temple.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
After the Presidency meeting, we did divisions. I went with
President M and F. Elder M went with Hermano T. They
visited two less active families. We visited R, L and N, and
the M family (R and I, M, etc.). R was one of my
investigadors that got baptized after I left. L and N aren´t doing
so well. They only go to church every now and then. But the branch hasn´t
forgoten about them and are still trying to help them. R is doing great. In
the lesson with R, I was just thinking of what a blessing it was. To be able
to be with my convert, about a year after his baptism, with both the branch
President and the Elders quorum president, talking about how he can prepare for
the priesthood and temple ordinances. Meetings like that just don´t happen. I
feel so blessed. I hope to be there when he recieves the Melchiqudec
priesthood. <o:p></o:p></div>

<span style="background: #E7E6E2; color: #666666; font-family: "Helvetica",sans-serif; font-size: 10.0pt;">Quisiera compartir algo que aprendí esta
semana. Elder Cook nos pidió que enseñáramos mas. Que aumentemos el número de
lecciones que tenemos. Aunque nuestro propósito no es simplemente enseñar,
enseñar nos permite cumplir nuestro propósito. Hay poder en la enseñanza. Entre
mas frecuentemente visitemos a nuestros investigadores, mas rápido será su
progreso.
convierte.</span><span style="color: #666666; font-family: "Helvetica",sans-serif; font-size: 10.0pt;"><br style="outline: 0px;" />
<br style="outline: 0px;" />
Esos últimos no tienen
<br style="outline: 0px;" />
<span style="background: #E7E6E2;">1. El espíritu renueva nuestros cuerpos porque
magnificamos nuestros llamamientos (DyC 84:33)</span><br style="outline: 0px;" />
<span style="background: #E7E6E2;">2. Obtenemos la bendición que se describe en
DyC 50:22.</span><br style="outline: 0px;" />
<br style="outline: 0px;" />

<div class="MsoNormal">
This week we received a lot of instruction. On Wednesday
there was a worldwide conference for missionaries. That was amazing. On
Saturday Elder Cook came and visited us. That was good too.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Everything turned out well with the musical number The Day
Dawn is Breaking. I enjoyed playing the piano.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Lately it´s been a little colder, especially in the
mornings. I think that it barely reaches the mid 60s but I feel really cold.
I´m already used to El Salvador heat.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
On thing that I really enjoyed for the conference was a
video they showed, <a href="https://www.lds.org/media-library/video/2013-06-1031-ill-go-where-you-want-me-to-go?lang=eng">https://www.lds.org/media-library/video/2013-06-1031-ill-go-where-you-want-me-to-go?lang=eng</a>.
It´s about member missionary work. I honestly cried when I saw it. A common
element in each one is that the members and the missionaries worked together.
Before I came on the mission, I tried to share the gospel. I prayed for
missionary opportunities, I gave away Book of Mormons, I invited my friends to
church activities, etc, but I never invited my friends to listen to the
missionaries. But now I realize that neither we, as missionaries,. can reach
our full level of success with out the members nor can the members without us.
We need to work together! Watch the video. And then think of things you can do
to share the gospel.<o:p></o:p></div>

cool. I attatched a picture of me with the M family. President M´s parents
say that they are planned to get sealed when they have a year of being members.

for them. I feel a very big conection to that family.<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
I´ve been pretty stressed this week. And I finally figured
out why I never got stressed until the mission. It´s not that I never got
stressed before the mission. It´s that the moment I got even slightly stressed
before the mission I would release it all on the piano. I made my best music
when I was stressed. And because I played the piano so much, I never got the
chance to recognize it for what it was. So I essentially was always stress
free. I was never stressed for more than a few hours. But now I don´t have that
outlet. So I´m finally learning how to recognize stress and deal with stress.
It only took me 20 years. <o:p></o:p></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Well, from your emails it sounds like several of you were
sick this week. I hope you all feel better. This week I was sick too. I said
before I left the office that I was exited to see what adventures awaited me.
Adventure number 1: dengue!!<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Ah dengue is terrible. It´s somewhat like chicungunya. It´s
carried by mosquitoes too. Chicungunya is more painful, but dengue is more
dangerous.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I started feeling sick right after writing you guys last
week. Once we got home from writing last week we took my temperature and I had
a fever of 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Nothing we did brought it down. It stayed
that high for all of Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. On Thursday is started
coming down. It hovered between 100 and 101 all day. On Friday my fever finally
broke.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The good thing is that the only symptoms of dengue that I
had was that fever and a chicken-pox-like rash. So I actually felt ok. No
headache, no nausea, no joint pain or anything. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Now I just feel a little weak but I´m getting better
fast. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Another good thing is that this is one of the most
successful areas that I´ve had. It´s definitely easier to manage an area if
you´re not in the office. Even if you have dengue.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
We have some really good investigators, the Hernandez
family: Morena, Wendy, Kevin, Delma, and Caren. All of them go to church. Wendy
is almost ready to be baptized. She wants to do it. She should be baptized
within the next month and then the rest of the family will follow.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Aguilares isn´t as small as Nueva Concepción. Normally about
70 people go to church every week. It´s definitely much more self sufficient
than la Nueva,<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
As far as water goes, I´m back to only having it half the
time.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Something cool happened this week. A member called S M who got baptized about half a year ago and is now less active called us.
He called us because he remembered that they had taught him about the different
"phases of progression" in the gospel. He told us that he got
baptized on a Saturday, then the next day the they layed their hands on his
head, and then they gave his the aaronic priesthood. He said then they told him
about the Melchizedek priesthood. They told him he need more preparation in
order to receive that. Then he got a new job and had to work Sundays so he
stopped coming to church. But then he remembered what they told him about the
Melchizedek priesthood. He remembered that he was still missing something. So
he called us. He wants to come back to church now. And he wants our help. That
was so cool to hear! That experience strengthened my faith.<o:p></o:p></div>

Well, I´ve left the office. Things are very calm now. My
last week in the office was very busy. We didn´t even have time to study or
proselytre on Monday or Tuesday before changes. They always let us now which
areas they are going to open really late so we always have to scramble right
before changes. They reopened Los Lencas II and put in sister missionaries so
we had to emplty out the apartment in front of our house in a very short
amount of time. We were using it as a storage unit. It was full of everything
from closed areas: fridges, beds, tables, microwaves, etc. It was pretty crazy.<o:p></o:p></div>

Things feel so calm now. I like it. Aguilares is actually where Elder Caldwell

some meetings.<o:p></o:p></div>

This Monday was a Salvadoreño holiday, day of the faithful
dead or something like that. Everyone went to the Cemeteries. So that´s where
we went too. We talked to everyone about family history, familysearch, temples,
and eternal families. It was a lot of fun. We did that throughout the entire
mission. As a mission was got more than 2400 referrals of people who wanted to
learn more about that.<o:p></o:p></div>

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
First of all, I am not longer sick. It passed by quickly.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Also, thank you all for the birthday wishes! And for the
package.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Something really cool happened this week. The mission did a
family history activity for the recent converts. There is a member here in San
Salvador that has a call center. Because it has a ton of computers, he offered
it to the church for a night so that all of the recent converts could get
together and do family history. It was just for members, missionaries weren´t
going to go, but I went with the assistants to help out because I know family
history.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
So the activity is starting, and we´re standing by the door
listening to a small presentation, and in walks M, one of the
people who got baptized when I was in Nueva Concepcion! Wow! I was so happy to
see her. She hadn´t seen me yet so I tapped her shoulder. She instantly burst
into tears when she saw me. She was so happy. Also from La Nueva was a man
called J. he was one of my investigators and now he´s been baptized,
along with his wife, R.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
M told me that the branch is doing well. That L and N are still active. Along with I. And R. Although she
did tell me that R´s health is deteriorating. She told me that they´ve set
the goal to be sealed as a family. But they haven't gone to the temple yet, not
even to do baptisms.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I was able to help M look for names. We found two, a
male and a female. One for here and one for R. Now they´re going to go to
the temple. And they want to go as soon as possible.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
That night I felt a bit of how it must feel in the celestial
kingdom. I was so happy. I felt so much joy. I felt so blessed. I can´t even
adequately express it. "And if it so be that you should labor all your
days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto
me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father!"
(D&C 18:15). I felt that joy. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
As a side note, last Sunday we visited a family in our ward
that we didn´t know. There´s lot´s of families like that because we´re all new.
It´s a very active family. They were so happy that we visited them. They said
that the missionaries hadn´t visited them in years. They in turn gave us four
things:<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
1. An opportunity to serve them (they need help moving or
something next week). Yes!<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
2. Offered to help us with some visits on Wednesday. Yes!!<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
3. Commited to share the gospel with some friends they had
in mind. Yes!!!<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
3. Said they´ll make us lazagna next Sunday for lunch.
Yay!!!!<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
These are the kind of things that make us happy as
missionaries.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I love you all!<o:p></o:p></div>
